What's been your highlight of the past year?

Getting number one.

What are you most looking forward to about 2011?

Getting into a club legally.

What's the best thing a fan has ever done for you?

One fan made a book. It had 100 pages and loads of different fans had writen messages to me and they gave it to me on my birthday.

Who will you be kissing under the mistletoe?

Hopefully Miley Cyrus but it’s never going to happen.

What’s on your Xmas list?

Miley Cyrus.

Would you ever do a naked photo shoot?

No because I’d just embarrass myself. When we’ve previously done ones like that I hid at the back. Behind a wall. I'd just embarrass myself. So probably not.

Boxers, briefs or none?

Boxers. But depends who I’m with because otherwise it would be none. 

Name one thing we don’t know about you?

I kissed Britney Spears when I was eight years old. There’s video evidence. I’ve got a pet snake as well called Charlie.

If you had to have a member of The Wanted on a poster above your bed, which would it be?

My sister has one of Siva so I’d pick him so I wouldn’t have to buy it. Actually if I did have one of Jay it would be hilarious to wake up to just to look at him because he’d probably be pulling a silly face. 

(Jay: I pull very attractive faces I’ll have you know).

Nathan on Christmas and going home! ♥

​​With a number one single to his name, a Wembley gig and all those Cher Lloyd rumours, you’d be forgiven for thinking boy band sensation Nathan Sykes is older than his years.

But very secretly, he’s a typical teenager who misses his mum, as Daniel Pountney found out

NATHAN Sykes hasn’t got time for a girlfriend. “I’m just too busy, it’s a nightmare,” he says, before exploding with laughter.

“It’s not really . . . I’m very happy being single.”

As a 17-year-old in the country’s hottest boy band, flying around the world and playing to thousands of screaming girls, it’s not difficult to understand why.

Nathan is living the dream.

He joined The Wanted around a year ago and since then he has been catapulted to fame.

The band scored a number one with their first single All Time Low and followed it up with the number two hit Heart Vacancy.

They have built up a huge fan base with over 15 million plays of their videos on YouTube, and over 450,000 fans on Facebook.

Their self-titled debut album stormed into the top five, they have played at Wembley in front of 70,000 people and filmed their last video in Coney Island, New York.

“In the last few months things have just exploded,” says the teenager who seems confident beyond his years.

“I can only describe the first chart success as a relief because we had worked really hard and it felt like everything was resting on a good chart place.

“To get to number one was amazing.”

Nathan went to Longlevens Junior School, then turned down a place at The Crypt for a scholarship at Sylvia Young Theatre School in London before returning to Ribston Hall High School for the sixth form.

Unsurprisingly, he was studying drama and music. He was just weeks into starting at Ribston when he learned he was one of five boys to make up The Wanted.

“I’ve been performing and studying music all of my life. I feel lucky that I’ve always known what I wanted to do,” he says.

“If The Wanted hadn’t happened, I know that I would have still ended up in the industry – perhaps in management or casting – it has always been my passion.”

Now that it has happened for him, Nathan says that life as a pop star is better than he ever imagined.

“Six months ago I was in the sixth form and now I’m going around the world and having the time of my life,” he says. “It is hard work though. People only see the glitz and the glamour when we appear on something like X-Factor but they don’t know about the 10am to midnight rehearsals.

“There’s a lot of travelling around too so you’re away from your family and friends for long periods of time.”

As if to illustrate the point, he’s conducting the interview from a service station on the way from a gig in Manchester to a signing in another town.

“I’m outside a Burger King and a KFC but I’ve gone for the healthy option of a Starbuck’s pannini,” he says. He doesn’t want to divulge which of his bandmates – Max, Siva, Jay, and Tom – opted for burgers and chips.

The time spent away from home is particularly hard for Nathan as the youngest member of the group. The other lads are aged between 20 and 22.

“The hardest part when I see my mum is having to tell her it’s time for me to go,” he says. “There’s never enough time and that’s difficult. But it’s part of the job.”

He’s coming home to Gloucester for 10 days at Christmas though and he can’t wait.

“It’ll be the longest amount of time I have spent at home since last Christmas,” he says.

His mates from Ribston, to their credit, have made an effort to stay in touch.

“One of them texted me the other day to say his mum was singing All Time Low in the bath and that he hated me,” he says. “I still find it funny that people are listening to my voice on the radio and spending money on my music.”

He’s also surprised at the stories he sees about The Wanted in the media.

“They show us at parties and link us to all of these girls, it’s weird,” he says.

The one rumour about Nathan that is flying around is that he’s courting the affections of X-Factor finalist Cher Lloyd, left. Her family comes from Malvern, just over the Gloucestershire border.

“She’s lovely but really, when would we see each other?” he says. “I’ve met her three times on the X-Factor shows.”

Nathan was a keen viewer of the final of the show last weekend and even though Simon Cowell’s One Direction didn’t win it, he knows they are about to become the new boy band on the block.

“There’s room for all of us,” he says. “They do different things to us and JLS are different again.”

The Wanted’s latest single, Lose My Mind, is released on Boxing Day and Nathan says it’s an upbeat number.

“It’s about a girl who you can’t get out of your head and it’s starting to annoy you,” he says. “Some people say it’s a bit like Kings Of Leon.”

By the time it goes on sale, he’ll be back in Gloucester spending quality time with his friends and family.

“I don’t mind when people spot me and want to say hi or take a picture,” he says.

“It’s superb because it means they care about what we’re doing. It’s a good thing. I don’t know why some celebrities get funny about it.”

So if you spot one of the hottest names in pop music on the streets of his home city, don’t be shy to say hello.

Nathan Sykes could go on a date with X Factor star Cher Lloyd...........

The controversial teen ' so called rapper' was blown away by The Wanted hunk, 17, when they met onThe Xtra Factor and has since asked him to 'get my number'.

Now Nathan has hinted that he's interested in Cher's offer.

'Wow, superb!' he tells the Daily Record.

'I've only met her once but yeah, I think she is a really nice girl. Who knows what the future holds?' 

Cher, 17, has also been linked to Aiden Grimshaw AND One directios's Harry Styles AND Zain Malik.....Hmm......

Jay:  ''I find a women's mouth sexiest. I think it shows a lot about her and is quite sexual. I like it when women are a bit different but really confident and funny. Like the girl out of paramore, Hayley Williams.''

Nathan: ''I love it when a women can give good banter! This is going to sound weird but I love the way you can't win with a women. If you have an argument, you wont win.''

Siva: ''I've been with my girlfriend two and a half years and i love everything about her. To me, sexiness is being confident and witty, and a good cook. My girlfriend cooks a mean Japanese curry!''

The Wanted have been dubbed Britain's Sexiest Boyband after sripping off for magazine, Gay Times.

The All Time Low hitmakers have shed their clothes for the mag in their first ever gay cover shoot, which sees the boys go topless, much to delight of us fans.

Siva, Jay, Tom, Max and Nathan can be seen posing in only jeans for the snaps, while also telling the publication how they are not your average squeaky-clean boyband.

Tom explained: "We know what to do and what not to do, because younger kids do look up to us."

Don’t get us wrong. We wouldn’t say no if Mark Feehily offered us a quick feel-ily. Which isn’t very likely. But all the same, after Westlife’s 489th boring ballad, the word ‘boyband’ was a dirty one, wasn’t it? And in 2010, it still is…but for an altogether different reason…. Jamie Tabberer takes on The Wanted.

In an age where media training has hollowed out the authenticity of pop stars and pop music itself, Tom Parker, Max George, Jay McGuiness, Nathan Sykes and Siva Kaneswaran – otherwise known as The Wanted – go against the grain. And, along with fellow GT cover alumni JLS, they’re reinventing the definition of the word boyband. This despite manufactured beginnings (the band was formed as a result of a mass auditioning process that the boys describe as ‘pretty similar’ to what we see on various TV talent shows) and the fact that, at face value, they resemble a familiar template. The little one, the Irish one, the shaven-headed one…
But they opted out of having a slow number as their debut single, choosing instead the bolshy, rocky All Time Low - on it, the boys lament a demised relationship by pairing soaring strings with panicked, urgent vocals. It received critical acclaim and smashed its way to the top of the charts, selling well over 80,000 copies in its first week. It’s still early days, but with the release of their second single Heart Vacancy incumbent, all evidence is pointing towards The Wanted becoming bona fide, picture perfect pop royalty.

With perhaps one exception; when I ask the boys if they think they’re good role models, Tom cackles loudly and deeply. In a Northern accent literally identical to Bo Selecta’s Mel B, he replies: “The laugh says it all. We know what to do and what not to do, because younger kids do look up to us. But we’re just ourselves. We don’t [want] that clean-cut image that everyone thinks a boyband should be.”
When the guys hear of the theme for their first ever-gay cover shoot - in layman’s terms, ‘most wanted’ - their reactions are priceless. Obligatory cute members Jay, 20 and Nathan 17 giggle nervously (yet cheekily), removing locks of blonde-brown hair from their faces, with the latter announcing with a smirk: “I haven’t been to jail before, I promise.” Meanwhile statuesque Siva, 21, from Ireland sits bolt upright, reserved and collected. He remains the shyest and quietest member of the band throughout our interview. Completing the line up are Northerners Max and Tom, both 22, who all but rub their hands together with glee at the prospect of bragging about their misdemeanours. Together, the impossibly handsome five piece share a “proper filthy” flat in a secret London location, after moving from their last because the band’s legions of female fans discovered its whereabouts. So, you throw five boys in a house together, and what do you get? Namely, trouble. And so, I open Pandora’s box. And with some gentle persuasion, its contents come tumbling out.
“What’s the naughtiest thing you’ve ever done?” I ask. Max answers slowly, in a deadpan voice: “I took a piss on Jay’s bed. I obviously did it not quite knowing, but when I woke up, I’d physically taken my boxers off and you could see where I’d stood up and taken a piss.” I blink several times and stare into space without breathing, waiting for a smirk, laughter – anything to indicate I’m having my leg pulled. Nothing. “What were you doing in Jay’s bed?” I ask almost unconsciously, to which Jay interrupts, pointing at Tom and Max: “Us three fell asleep on my bed, then I got hot and went to his bed, he got hot and went back to his bed, and then he pissed in my bed.”
Five minutes in, and we’ve already covered bed swopping, bodily fluids and I’m guessing a reservoir of beer. And the scary part is, I’m holding back – some of the stuff these boys get up to is simply unrepeatable (okay, you’ve twisted my arm - all I’ll say is that it involves human faeces). But you know what? We’ll bet it’s just as corrupt and debauched behind closed doors on Planet Westlife - the only difference being, they’d never admit it.
I ask the boys if they were well behaved at school. Unsurprisingly, it’s a yes from Siva. Meanwhile Max and Tom admit to a couple of suspensions each. Max takes it one step further. “I got my dick out in class and slapped it on a girl’s back [once]. I probably had a semi on so I didn’t embarrass myself.”
Siva takes the words out of my mouth when, in utter disbelief, he says: “Oh. My. God.”
“It was at college. We were both over 16. She loved it.”
“I was a school mentor. I was always the teacher’s pet. To look at these guys…oh my god…” Siva shakes his head.
“We’re trying to steer him down the bad path,” says Tom, before releasing another mighty Northern cackle.
